What Is Supplier Monitoring?

The version 3.1 of Automotive SPICE® includes 32 processes, which are represented in the process reference model. The processes are divided into 8 groups. In this course the Supplier Monitoring ACQ.4 is covered. It is part of the Acquisition Process Group which contains 7 processes, that all revolve around the customer and supplier interaction.

Why Is Supplier Monitoring Needed?

ASPICE processes are designed to allow a structured and therefore effective work. This applies not only for the system and software development processes, but also for supplier monitoring which is often crucial for a project success. A system only is as good as its parts and if one supplier fails then this could endanger the full project.

How Is Supplier Monitoring Related to Embedded Systems?

Within a development project also the suppliers are taking over specific parts of the project. For example, this can include the development of single software functions or full functionalities. For this the supplier interaction has to be clearly defined and described and joint processes need to be described and established. Interfaces usually include project, requirements, change, and configuration management, problem resolution, quality assurance and customer acceptance.

What Can You Learn About Supplier Monitoring in the Embedded Academy E-Learning?

In this course we focus on the VDA Scope and thus mandatory for more or less every automotive electronics and software project. For the acquisition process group this applies to Supplier Monitoring ACQ.4.

At the beginning of the e-learning the respective process group is introduced and you get to know the connections between the different processes. The e-learning highlights the connection between different topics. This is particularly helpful for practical application work when processes and relationships need to be understood.
