What is the Management Process Group?

The management process group MAN describes typical management processes within systems and software development that apply to the automotive industry. MAN.3 Project management is describing the process requirements for project management within automotive system, software, hardware, and machine learning development. MAN.5 Risk management for identifying, analyzing, handling, and monitoring risks is also part of the process management group. The third process in this process group is MAN.6 Measurement for measuring product and process development to enable effective management and demonstrate the quality of products.

Why is the Management Process Group Needed?

Within ASPICE, the Management Process Group describes the management tasks that are typically also performed in non-automotive system and software projects. For successful development of systems, software, hardware, and machine learning you simply need project management. Risk management is also essential for identifying risks in time, to manage them and to perform risk treatment and mitigation. In addition, one should always have a good understanding of the performance of the own project and applied processes.

How is the Management Process Group Related to Embedded Systems?

In the process of developing Embedded Systems, it becomes essential for diverse domains to collaborate seamlessly. Embedded software goes beyond the traditional perception of a mere series of lines of code running on a computer; it takes on a more central role by controlling and dictating the behavior of an entire system. And of course, the embedded hardware and the connected systems also have there share of functions and functional dependencies.

As Automotive SPICE addresses the development of embedded systems in automotive projects the overall system which is controlled is a vehicle such as a passenger car. The processes in the ASPICE Management Process Group have the task to manage the development of embedded systems which will become part of electric vehicles.

What Can You Learn About ASPICE in the Embedded Academy E-Learning on Management Processes?

The course “V4.0 ASPICE – Management” currently covers e-learning units for the first two of the three processes within the Management Process Group.
The first e-learning is teaching you about the Project Management Process MAN.3. After completing this e-learning, engineers will understand the ASPICE project management requirements.
The second e-learning teaches the Risk Management Process MAN.5 which involves identifying, analyzing, treating, and monitoring process related risks as well as product related risks.
